In my opinion, there are two ways we can go about this. If it comes to general skill, then I'd have to place Maul a bit ahead of Galen. He's just a bit better.
But I'd prefer to take a note form the bible of Maul fans - and one Maul fan in particular - who's convinced himself that feats, as they appear in fiction, are completely unimportant when debating who would win a fight. Rather that only thing to consider, is how things would play out from a story telling perspective. In which case Maul, being the dastardly antagonist he is, might find himself on the winning end of a battle, only to later slip on shit and impale himself.
Galen was keeping up with a "shadow of his former self" Vader. We even see that TFII Starkiller, the superior version of Galen, loses to Vader who was partially holding back, so yeah Maul takes it. Also it's kind of funny that people keep saying Maul lost to blind Kanan while completely disregarding feats, accolades and the writer's intent which all point to Kanan receiving a momuntarely amplification of power.

Can I ask which of their accolades/feats makes you think Maul would be above Galen?
All his fights against Kenobi.

Who cares how much momentary power a padawan gets, he shouldn't beat a Sith Lord.

Oneness is a massive power boost that should put him comfortably above Maul.
No it really shouldn't.
Unless of course they show Maul in "Oneness" taking down Vader or something, that whole scene was total BS and seriously disrespectful to the character. Disrespect they would never show to Vader, Palpatine. Heck probably not even to Thrawn!
Only Quanchi112 (and other Maul haters) would defend such blatant disrespect to Maul.

Nobody is saying you have to like it, I hate what they did to him, but that doesn't mean that you can ust ignore the evidence which actually is in Maul's favor.

I mean I don't think anyone has actually argued Kanan =/> Maul.
Everyone knows Maul is >>> Kanan.
But what I'm asking is will "Oneness Maul" be doing anything special anytime soon? If not, then that's simply a terrible low moment for a character who already had 1 low moment too many.

Well I doubt that Maul's going to experience a moment of Oneness anytime soon, I always felt that "the Force taking over" was just a plot device for the weaker protagonists to defeat their (stronger) enemies. I don't like the explanation they're giving to us, but at least it's acceptabel to a certain degree.

Problem is if it doesn't work both ways, then it still makes Maul look bad.
Unless and until somebody quantifies the level of Kanan's amp, it's certainly a low point for Maul to lose to him. Low points guys like Dooku and Vader don't have unless we count Vader's Skywalker Father vs Son battles.
And Even then, Maul's is the much weaker showing, given everyone is unanimous in thinking Luke > Kanan.
