Consider the source. Jamie Shupe has bigger problems than his gender identity. He is literally psychotic, and suffers from auditory and visual hallucinations. He has also been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, and PTSD. He is a very mentally troubled individual, and not the sort of person conservative media should be holding up as a case to discredit transgender people.

The DailySignal is part of the Heritage Foundation. Oh lordy.

Yeah, mistakes are made, and we should be careful who we allow to transition. That was always obvious.

I believe a psychologist or psychiatrist has to sign-off before someone is allowed to undergo sex reassignment surgery in the US, iirc, so it's not like people who just woke up one day and went "I think I'll get a sex change today" get it done. It's generally a long process.

They have to get two.

Ah so this is essentially like how some treat non-religious things as a religion. Atheists can do it, commies, etc. Now these crazy folk's belief isn't in a sky god it's in an imaginary vagina.

At least vaginas are all kind of awesome. I'd buy vagina iconography.

Honest question surt. How is that any different from the hundreds of thousands of teenagers getting cosmetic surgery or the millions of adults, along with all of the corresponding horror stories with everything from life long deformities to death?

Cuz this is a mental illness that is causing it. And those other groups don't have a high suicide rate. Any more questions?

yes. I have one more question. Did u just make those 2 points up?

"Six epidemiologic studies have found that women who received cosmetic breast implants have a suicide rate that is approximately twice the expected rate based on estimates in the general population.56 The largest investigation of this topic additionally found that women who had other types of cosmetic surgery also had an increased suicide rate."

The suicide rates for transgender people are 40%, your link doesn't show plastic surgery has that rate.

So nah, I didn't make it up.

Oh, and if you really need another: 4 year olds aren't being encouraged to get cosmetic surgery like you say, they are encouraged to be a different gender by some if they decide they are. We aren't talking about piercings or girls wanting bigger boobs.

We're not gonna act like this is the same, sorry. Dee-nied.

Could that maybe have anything/something to do with society not holding say women who get bigger boobs as "freaks" and "disgusting" generally speaking while society in large does in regards to trans people?

Yup Rob we'll just blame society. It's easier that way.

*shaking fist in general direction of society*

Holy moving goal posts batman!!!!!

Lol my link does show that the statement u made was complete B.S.

U stated they dont suffer from a mental illness which i proved false and u stated they dont have a high suicide rate, which i proved false.

So yeah u did make it up.

Its clear as day that the statements u made were incorrect. Just take ur L like a man instead of moving the posts.

Nope they commit suicide at a higher rate. My point was their high rate of suicide. It's literally why I brought it up. It's not a goalpost move.

Nice strawman, Surt. Anyhow.

I asked if you think society's generally shit view towards trans people has "anything/something" to do with those high suicide rates, I'm asking your opinion.

Nope I don't think so. I think it's the mental illness doing it.

Research shows that how society views groups, especially marginalized groups, can affect suicide rates. eg Someone feeling unwelcome and unwanted is more likely to have suicidal thoughts than someone who feels wanted and part of the larger whole.

The main reasons for guys to top themselves are rejection, loneliness, lack of money and or work, illness/disability. Any one of these problems understandably could lead to suicidal thoughts and acute mental illness.

ur killing me surt. 2 seconds on google found a six year old who got cosmetic surgery because kids called him elf ears and an 8 year old whose mom gave her botox injections for beauty pageants. The mom describes how botox injections for girls that age are quite common. Along with several other videos of very young children and cosmetic surgery.

Lol. So ur point was something different from what u said? ur exact words-

"And those other groups don't have a high suicide rate." -Surtur

Actual facts-

"The largest investigation of this topic additionally found that women who had other types of cosmetic surgery also had an increased suicide rate."

Ur next post- blah blah 40% blah blah. U see how its different from what u originally stated. Almost like it moved away from ur original point, kind of like a goal post that gets moved further away from the goal. Hence the phrase "moving the goal post".

The issue here, is that the checks and balances are broken. Because of social pressure, if a professional, tries to dissuade someone from going down this path immediately, or points to some alternatives, they could be potentially viewed as a biggot. Some, are so afraid, they just encourage it. And some have completely drank the koolaid.

Filling out paperwork and jumping through hoops to some extent is technically a long process. But a "long process" doesn't mean it is a useful check. The length of the process is irrelevant. Acknowledgement of the potential causes and careful treatment is the issue.

A process shouldn't be long, it should be f*cking effective. This seems pretty reasonable. If I went on TV and pointed this out, I'd be called a biggot by some (A conservative hero by others), and the conversation would not even be entertained in the major media outlets.

Do you see the underlying issue? People are dumb af. Kids even more. Kids eat Tidepods. They are dumb AF, and with social media, they are almost hive-mind in their ability to be influenced. This should be acknowledged and addressed. As we are an affluent society, and the rate of mental illness and unhappiness skyrockets, people will turn to many things they would not normally turn to.

John Money was a professional shrink, at the front of an infamous case of a redesignation from a botched operation. That son of a ***** pretended everything was just fine, when it was anything but.

The victim was psychologically confused, broken, had another operation to reverse his sex, and eventually committed suicide.
