Many trans folks worry that they will pursue medical interventions and still not pass, and will wish they had not pursued them at all. But very rarely does that turn out to be the case. More often than not, they wish they had done it sooner, because they could have been happier instead of worrying about things that did not happen.

I am addressing you. You wish you were born female, but seem to have resigned yourself to remaining a man, because you think that if you transitioned you would be simulacrum of a woman. And I am simply telling you that if you transitioned, even if you did not seamlessly reintegrate into society as female, that you may still be really happy. Too often in life people let the perfect be the enemy of the good, and they think that if they cannot achieve everything they want, that there is no sense in trying to have some or even most of it. Those options are there if you want them.

but my question is- why do they care so much that their peers also identify them by their gender/pronoun of choice? why can't they just be content with the personal choice they've made and just leave it at that? why should other people be bashed for "assuming a gender"?

In the real world, people interact with transgender people every day and may not know it. It is when people want to use transgender identities as a wedge issue that they dig up instances like this to caricature transgender people and discredit the movement for their rights.

I think it’s generally pretty wise to wait until adulthood to make such drastic life altering decisions. But I also think prior to 18 or 16 or whatever magic age one becomes capable of making good decisions, it’s something for the parents and the child in unison should decide.
