Tbh, the government should not be encouraging people to get married in the first place.
Tax incentives for married couples is wrong and should be abolished.
And I do agree that the Government should move to civil unions for all and leave marriage to private institutions.

This move by the Pope probably just the doubled the remaining life span of the Catholic Church. It's not the first time that the Church has changed some of its doctrine to make their religion more digestible to the masses.

The Bible was a rewrite of the ancient Egyptian and Jewish religions making the Jews to look bad (Old testament) and the Europeans to look good (New Testament) except the stories they made were so ridiculous it's comical.
