Protestors Breach Capital Building

Any lives that were lost at capitol building on Jan 6 were not taken by any Trump supporter.

In fact, an unarmed Trump supporting veteran (Ashli Babbot) was murdered in cold blood by Capitol police and the scumbag who killed her got away with it. Disgusting. They won't even release the murdering bastard's name.

Oh, but you can bet your ass if he had shot a black criminal or a BLM or Antifa thug, regardless of the circumstances, his name would be plastered all over the place so that BLM/Antifa could go harass him endlessly.

Not really, cops have lost their pensions, benefits and/or been barred from ever serving again for committing crimes after being found guilty. Depends on the crime(s) and state laws.

eg Chauvin will keep his pension due to his state's laws. Other cops can not be as lucky.

Without due process and courts many places can say whatever they want and get sued if they break the law pretending to keep up social appearances.

If part of their contract is in part with maintains the law and they lose in court than there you go I was just saying that shouldn't be the first action if they aren't convicted.

I did not say or imply that these criminals should not receive due process, I'm not a "Lock her/him up!" frothing Trumper.

Obviously this all hinges on if they're found guilty. The video footage of the capital attack is damning though.

Hunt for Capitol attackers still on 6 months after Jan. 6

The first waves of arrests in the deadly siege at the U.S. Capitol focused on the easy targets. Dozens in the pro-Trump mob openly bragged about their actions on Jan. 6 on social media and were captured in shocking footage broadcast live by national news outlets.

But six months after the insurrection, the Justice Department is still hunting for scores of rioters, even as the first of more than 500 people already arrested have pleaded guilty. The struggle reflects the massive scale of the investigation and the grueling work still ahead for authorities in the face of an increasing effort by some Republican lawmakers to rewrite what happened that day. -snip

While I'm happy more than 500 have pleaded guilty, the fact remains is that thousands are likely going to get away with it, the ones that rioted outside and were either covered up and/or managed to avoid cameras.

remember when trump was “outraged by the violence, lawlessness and mayhem” and promised that those who “broke the law will pay”

No one burned down a building or looted the white house. They merely occupied space.

He actually said they should be shot: "When the looting starts, the shooting starts." -Trump 2020

Trumpers cheered and supported that comment, then.

They looted the Capital and they were chanting for the hanging of the Vice President and other high ranking members of our government, among other acts of violence.

Pence is a criminal.

Pence should be in prison, but not hanged.

Capitol Rioter Who Walked On Senate Floor On Jan. 6 Sentenced To 8 Months In Prison

A Florida crane operator who walked onto the Senate floor during the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol has been sentenced to eight months in federal prison and two years of supervised release.

Paul Hodgkins' sentencing is the first in a felony case stemming from the deadly assault on the U.S. Capitol by a mob of Trump supporters. It is viewed as a potential bellwether for how other Capitol defendants charged with similar offenses are likely to be treated.

Hodgkins pleaded guilty last month to a single count of obstructing an official proceeding. On Jan. 6, he marched from then-President Donald Trump's rally near the White House to the Capitol, where he walked inside and onto the floor of the Senate while carrying a red "Trump 2020" flag.

In court Monday, Hodgkins, dressed in a dark suit with his hair pulled back in a pony tail, said he was "truly remorseful and regretful" for his actions on Jan. 6.

"I say this not because I face consequence, but because of the damage that day's incident caused, the way this country that I love has been hurt," he told U.S. District Judge Randolph Moss. -snip

The domestic terrorist got a slap on the wrist. At least he'll never be able to own a gun legally.

Or vote.

I know, I just don't agree with that law. I think once someone serves their time, they should be given the right to vote back.

Granted, I'm not losing any sleep over these Trumper convicts never being able to vote again. Deplorables.

I'm with Rob on this, how can people rehabilitate without a stake in society.

8 months is definitely on the light side, but death penalty seems a little excessive, no?
