That's a lot of comic characters that have adventures in space just as often as they do on Earth. It isn't an issue until a writer decides it ought to be.
Odinforce 👆But it failed when he got deepthroated by the Hulk recently.
Or when Mother Storm tried to drown him.

This depends on the writer.
Can you provide a scan specifically stating that Thor doesn't need to breathe, as you have been asked numerous times and failed to acknowledge? Superman has them. The only example given for Thor was when he had Odin Force. So a reverse of what you did by posting Byrne Superman examples.

They both need to breath, but they both can also hold their breath for weeks, if not months. So any time you see them choked out in seconds it's a writer not doing his or her job well.
It depends on writers I believe.
Though some stray thought, back then, Superman actually seems to not instinctly breathe. Rather, it looks more like he breathes as a cover for his Clark Kent identity
"A Superman doesn't need air, but I should breathe as Clark Kent...or I'll be too conspicuous"

The same way back in the days, Superman seems more like can't sleep rather than doesn't need to sleep(IOW, though Superman doesn't need sleeping in either interpretation, the difference here is in some writers, Superman literally can't make himself sleep)

Eccentric neighbor/bore, wears mask, garden variety environmentalism. How times have changed. 😂

When it comes to powerful beings, like Zeus and other skyfathers, Superman nor Hulk stands a prayer against them. Supes got treated like a flee, here.
Just because Hulk gets wrecked at this level, doesn't mean it applies to Superman.
The very idea that Dr Manhattan wasn't confident he could stop Superman should tell you how powerful he is.
Likewise, even before the sun dip moment, The World Forger wasn't sure he could stop Superman either-- even after roughing him up once, only that everyone else would die if they did fight.
Though they haven't fought directly, we've seen their performance against a common enemy:
Depowered Darkseid was stronger than Zues, and Superman has beat him a dozen times. In fact, New Gods have destroyed Olympus a handful of times now, and they get rebirthed in the next big cosmic event.
Superman is a nexus being who's sheer will changes the order and flow of the entire metaverse at a level that the gods and cosmics can't even fathom. The Quintessence even suggested that Superman's existence makes them obsolete.
Anyways, lets hear it from Zues and Highfather-
Zues and Highfather on Superman
Both Hulk and Superman holds back. Still doesn't take away from the fact that they are insects to skyfathers. Darkseid isn't a skyfather, no matter how much you try to paint that picture.
Also, FYI, every writer doesn't write every book thinking "hey, let me write Superman and Hulk getting their ass whipped but this time, I want them to hold back". Provide proof he was holding back there.

He is 100 percent a skyfather, at minimum, as that is the very definition of it. But he's also stronger than all the others in this class.
His rise to power was him going killing all the other pantheons and absorbing their power, just as we saw him easily do with Zues.
Superman is always holding back.
I showed you a scan just a day or two ago where he explained he hasn't stopped holding back a single time since he killed Doomsday/Death of Superman. Hadn't gone all out before or after DOS.
