One Pre-Crisis comic book? Superman moves and reacts without having to build up momentum all the time. In fact, the only time I can recall that he actually did have to build up momentum to go lightspeed was when he was inside of a black hole (and that's obviously because its gravity was slowing him down).

BTW, Freeza's death beam chopped Namek up in Manga Volume 9, PG 173-175.
All it did was dig a small ditch in the planet a few hundred meters long. It couldn't have even gone through the crust, considering that no lava seeped out. BTW, that was a completely different attack than the death beam, which is done with one finger instead of two, and Goku was terrified of this attack so he dodged it.

I’d say that Freeza was about 388 meters away from Dende, he was on another island, and you could barely see Piccolo who was closest to him, now if the human brain can process 1000 signals, maybe 1000 images a second, then every 1000ndth of a single second Freeza’s beam traveled 388 meters, and that’s saying the Z fighters didn’t process more than 1000 images per second, now Freeza was about 20 feet away from SSJ Goku, he was trapped between the last two beams, which where no further apart from each other than the length of his chest, that means he dodged each, each beam was moving at least 388,000 meters per second, one was about 5 inches away from the one closer to Goku, he had to escape within 5 inches of space, doing my calculations, Goku moved at 1,396,800,000 METERS PER SECOND!!!!! Light travels at 300,000,000 meters per second. According to math, Goku’s faster than light.

Superman has lived 30 years, 30 years of absorbing the suns power could power everything on Earth for a while, imagine how much it could power a single man? And Supes strength is due to his density, he really doesn’t have nearly enough energy.

Yes, Goku traveled back in time, he’s hella fast. He couldn’t travel that far back in time though, because he can only cover about half an inch at that speed, at base anyway.

17 used a Ki Shield...sorta. He used an energy shield to block Piccolo's attack. Though I wouldn't say Gokou can do it since I'm not sure 17 or 18 even use ki because it's endless though whatever they use does create the same effects.
