Comic Book Martial Artist Hierarchy

Should probably just eliminate the cosmic tier entirely. None of Karate Kod, Gamora or Mantis are treated as markedly above other top tier MAs anymore.

Meh, there was more to base it on at least. Either way it’s not the case today.

This thread concept is probably ultimately flawed anyways though. It’s all just ABC logic. Comparing skill of Marvel and DC chars is mostly guesswork because they never actually fight each other.

I think we can safely drop Cable down a tier. Probably Domino and Midnighter as well. I feel like powers/enhancement come into to play too much there.

I wouldn't mind dropping the folks out of cosmic tier either. And dissolving it like Smurph said if we can't think of replacements.

Cable is weird. He usually relies either on his powers or weapons, but he's also got that "tough old man" thing going on, which inexplicably allows him to go toe to toe with the likes of Wolverine or Omega Red.

Beyond top tier. Val is a legitimate contender with Daxamites.

A real fight with streets would look like this:

Val is like butter spread on too much bread.

Too many versions that don't share each other's feats.

And he lacks essential showings that we use to assess one's prowess with martial arts --- fights against other MA combatants with established position.

Yeah, but they all have examples of reaction and striking feats well beyond Batmans.

The weakest Val has this:

That's a literal building hill he just cleared away with one punch. Nobody should be able to block that, let alone tank it.

So?

Karnak has dozens of similar feats and he's considered one of the worst martial artists the MU has to offer.

Mandarin strikes hard enough to pierce Tony's armors and trains himself to strike even harder... and his actual combat performance leaves much to be desired.

Try again.

Also, this feat was re-posted 1,000,000 times --- so now I'm sure KK is a nobody who would get his ass handed to him by the likes of Night Trasher and Prowler.

He also doesn't have the speed to go with his striking.

Mandarin is far from a nobody, if any street except one with an Iron Fist beats him he's jobbing.

Punched out a guy who deflected bullets with chains and tanks power armor punches.

Not jobbing at all.
