Star Wars: The Force Awakens

It feels almost like the critics want Rey to be an average Jedi who needs years of training to master the Force, when clearly that isn't the case. Why isn't it OK that she's just that good with the Force? So what if she becomes the greatest Jedi of all time?

This kind of mindset reminds me of how Western community view overachievers and master-of-all-traders. All the anti-fat shaming, vegan, feminist, liberal SJWs... All of them are just jealous little ****s. Why can't you accept the fact that some people were born better than you?

What?

Anakin was a once in a lifetime prodigy.

What are you even talking about?

no, it's silly to assert that some sort of deep training was done off screen in ANH when they clearly had no time for that.

Huh? Who said they had no time for that?

Did the camera not leave them at all after they left their home together?

When we see Qui-Gon give Anakin advise right before the pod race he first says "now remember", i.e he had talked to him before. In other words we shouldn't just assume that Everything that was taught to them was shown on screen. It's a 2 hour movie so I don't expect them to fit in a half an hour force lesson in there.

Also don't see why your treating the ANH lessons like they were nothing. When did Rey learn to "feel not think" to "use her instincts" and not to trust her eyes?

Because even the Chosen One needs training to Master the force.

Heck after 10years of training Anakin lost an arm to Count Dooku who wasn't even the Most Powerful Dark Sider.

Even ignoring the PT Yoda tells Luke in ESB that "Only a Fully Trained Jedi Knight will conquer Vader.."

Rey had literally no instruction about the force.

Neither her nor Finn should have been able to contend with Kylo, even if he were hurt.

And yet, Luke was able to master the force in a few short years with minimal training. Rey is a return to this. Is it a bit too fast, perhaps but we've seen this before.

Kylo is not only critically wounded (it's amazing he could walk let alone fight) he was also an emotional wreck.

Luke had intense training by Yoda.

As well as training off screen between the events of episode 5 and 6.

And I wouldn't say he had even mastered the force in ep 6 from what we saw.

Compare that to Rey who was given some vague notion of what the force was, and who didn't even know what a lightsaber was until a couple hours before she used to beat Kylo. Rey was given abilities too fast.

Luke was blocking blaster bolts and destroyed the DS despite only learning about the Force a few hours ago as well though. I agree though, she did get her abilities too fast and I hope we get a good explanation. But if we don't I don't consider it a big problem.

Sure he was. He was hit by the bowcaster; a weapon that was hyped up through the entire movie.

Vader was fully trained and had poodles of experience. Kylo's training is not complete yet on top of the other factors in their battle. Quit ignoring the context to sell your notion of Star Wars.

Finn was raised since birth to be a warrior. Injuries matter and we've seen non force users take on Jedi and Sith who have been trained before. This isn't new.

Merry Christmas knuckleheads

He had to train to learn how to block blaster fire. Using the force to destroy the DS was nowhere as impressive as the feats Ren had.

And yet he still wasn't critically injured. Probably was a flesh wound based on the lack of blood loss and lack of restriction in movement.

We've never seen a non force user who had no training with a lightsaber engage in a lightsaber battle with a force user.

Finn couldn't even beat some random stormtrooper with the saber.

Finn holding his own for a while and even injuring Kylo was the biggest complaint I have with the movie.
Specialy that Finn was a janitor and got wrecked by another Storm Trooper like nothing.

I don't understand why the plot always has to comply and conform to your expectations. She learned quickly with no training, but so what? I don't see anything wrong if she ends up being the greatest Jedi ever. She has certainly shown that potential, being able to hold her own against a semi-trained Sith like her cousin even with no training and utilizing only her staff skills with the saber.

No one complained when a waitress in her mid-20s with absolutely no combat experience named Sarah Connor became a gun-throttling, female Rambo.

I had more issues with Finn the Janitor holding his own against Kylo.

snoke's theme is identical to the first 2 minutes of "Palpatine's Teachings" from the ROTS soundtrack, which is playing when he recounts the tale of darth Plagueis.

It's all but confirmed imo.

Finn is actually supposed to be one of the most skilled storm troopers.

But yea, he shouldn't have been able to compete with Ren, but he did get beaten soundly and fairly easily once Ren stopped screwing around...unlike what happened with Rey.

Whatever, dude. It's all but confirmed that she's Luke's daughter and Snoke is Darth Plagueis. Deal with it.

There's nothing to deal with, why would I be bothered by either of those things?
