I thought R2 powered up because Rey was present on the base.

I'm not sure how he would sense that, but whatever. Figured that was a clue she was Luke's daughter.

The casting list for the next instalment has just been released.

Benecio Del Toro is mentioned.

And uumm also a Harrison Ford.

They downloaded R2's info on screen first, showing where Luke was before even asking BB8 for his segment.

No he doesn't. R2 only has part of the map and certainly doesn't seem to have the final location but rather just the missing framework. Regardless, like the Empire he doesn't have the complete map and can't find Luke.

Remember the red trail of dots each map segment had, tracing Luke's route to the planet he was hiding on...R2 had the final segment, where the trail of dots ended...Luke's exact location.

BB8 had the 2nd last segment connecting to R2's segment.

Its like saying you can't see the picture of the jigsaw puzzle all because one piece is missing.

Pretty sure BB had the spot the trail ended. Anyway, it's a map. Hyperspace routes are dangerous.

Even if R2 has the final location (and I'm pretty sure he doesn't) then the only known way to get there is the route provided by the map.

I just checked, BB does indeed have one end of the route. Whether that's the starting point or end is impossible to tell for certain; but considering how the camera zooms in on that end it's seems likely that that is Luke's location.

I'll honestly need to see it a 2nd time...but I swear R2's segment was the final piece then BB's was placed in the gap before R2's connecting the rest together.

Regardless of whether or not Snoke is Plagueis, we know Snoke had to wait until the Emperor died before he made his own bid for power. Looks like he was wary about trying anything when Sheev was alive. Sounds like fear. 😉

I just saw an article that pointed out that the First Orders methods of stealing kids, training and indoctrinating them into stormtroopers is remarkably close to the PT Jedi's methods. Thats a cool parallel.
