I didn't say there weren't similarities, I just don't see how looking like Voldemort makes Snoke cool.

You accuse me of being mad, and clearly you're the one with issues. You really are taking this seriously aren't you? Did someone buy your tickle-me Elmo when you were a kid and so now you think anyone that spends their money the way they want is a douche? I can start insulting you to if you'd like. Clearly you're resorting to insults because you feel it's your only weapon.
Originally posted by NephthysCalling the movie unoriginal is almost a fair criticism, but considering it's one of the main themes of the movie it's kind of stupid to complain about to this degree. It's completely intentional and it's actually pretty ****ing clever. Especially as a meta-comment on the fandom.
Also the clone concept was added in ANH when they mention the clone wars. I can get how you'd forget that, its only the first 20 minutes of the entire franchise.
Meta what on the fandom?
Rehashing ANH was playing it safe. Nothing more, nothing less. But I'd personally just rewatch ANH. Still this film was worth watching to me just for the Escape from Jakku on the Millenium Falcon.
ANH never introduced us to the idea of a Clone Army. That was AOTC. ANH only named the war for us.

It really doesn't. ANH is one of the most important films in history. Even ESB can't actually be good enough to blow it out of the water.

Meta as in it plays with expectations. They want a villain like Darth Vader? Give them a villain whose entire character is trying to emulate Vader. Stuff like that.
Not that any of it matters. A skyscraper is a giant metaphor for mankind's proverbial penis but if it isn't well built it'll crumble.
Originally posted by AuraAngelI am not saying it as groundbreaking at the time I'm saying to me it's far more enjoyable as ANH was always lame to me compared to the other Star Wars films.

You know what else plays with expectations? Being Original.Pretty silly anyone saying this trounced ANH, when this is a literal rehash of ANH. This film, and every SW film and the mega blockbuster industry today all owe their success to ANH.
I don't disagree with you but, again, this is a echo chamber.
My best piece of advice for you is to have a one on one conversation with someone who likes it(but not necessarily love it). Will make it easier to appreciate it.

It's probably because of the newer CGI, wow-factor over substance

Originally posted by wakkawakkawakkaI love where the trilogy might go and it definitely gave me better villains than Palpatine and Vader from the ot.
While I don't think ANH has aged very well, its unlikely that the franchise would be as big as it is w/o that movie being so successful. TFA, despite having the name that both the OT and PT set in stone in addition to the funding/marketing from Disney, doesn't really do much for the franchise as a whole beyond generating money.
Snoke's voice is cooler than Vader's IMO and Kylo's inner conflict is definitely enjoyable.

One way i've heard which i like better is, "Heavily Inspired" by ANH rather then a remake/rehash of ANH.
