You're hiding behind that combination (that TFA has) to try and pretend this film is "Objectively" good, and "Objectively" better than the Prequels. That is silly. But I'm not going to keep going back and forth arguing your stubborn view of this topic.
Hiding? I'm not hiding. I'm saying TFA beat TPM in pretty much every possible way. That's fact.

What's not fact is if you liked one better than the other. That's opinion; of which you're entitled.

It's also crushed such epics as LOTR, Harry Potter, Avengers 1 and even Empire Strikes Back (even inflation adjusted). Does that make it Objectively better than any of them? No.

You are ignoring his point.

TFA is better than TPM in pretty much every possible way, yeah.

TPM is absolutely horrendous.

You're ignoring the part where reviews come into play again; as well as AUDIENCE reception/reviews. And even then I'm not saying that TFA is a better movie than any of them. What I'm saying is, seeing as you want to keep bashing TFA and praising TPM; I'm merely pointing out the fact that TFA blew TPM out of the water in EVERY SINGLE CATEGORY. That's my point.

We're basically just bashing a movie the other one likes. The main difference is, I have critics and higher reception across the board on my side, as well as financial superiority.

That's pretty sad of you to admit 😂

Yeah except those 2 points don't mean much to me because

1) I really never cared too much for "Critical Reception". I always found it strange a select few would tell everyone else how good or bad a movie was.

2) Like I pointed out this film has beaten every epic at the box office. Considering the franchise name obviously has a lot to do with that, there's nothing there to put down the Prequels, as those movies have contributed to that franchise name over the years. And the same brand name was obviously going to get much bigger exposure when backed by a Mega media company like Disney.

Okay? 👆

Most people aren't seeing this because they think it's going to be a good movie, they're seeing it because it's Star Wars. So the idea that the revenue of the film is somehow tied to its quality is absurd.

From a design and story-telling perspective it's objectively bad. It recycles elements and plot-lines from the previous movies to tell its story. BB-8 looks like something out of a Pixar movie; Kylo Ren looks and acts like a spoiled brat and fails to grab the attention of the audience to the extent of cinematic icons like Darth Maul and Darth Vader did; and Snoke is the most uninspired of them all.

Here's the thing: hating on and criticizing TFA is actually relevant since look at the title of the thread. It is meant to be a thread where you can express what you liked/disliked about the movie. Hating TPM serves no real purpose except to make TFA look good by comparison, which is a sort of lame thing to do lol.

I saw that.

Favorite new character and favorite moment of the film? Bring in some positive mojo.

Well, when someone keeps bringing the prequels back into the discussion and praising them, it's hard NOT to keep knocking them.

As I said, I feel that TFA is in the middle of the pack for Star Wars fare. That's where the prequels come into play. Darth Thor sees anyone diss them (I.e. place TFA above any of them) and he goes nuts. Thus, the criticism of the prequels begins again.

Snoke. I loved the intro scene. I loved Snoke's dialogue, his voice, him hiding in the background orchestrating the whole thing. I liked the rivalry between Ren and Hux. I also enjoyed the instability of Ren.

My favorite moment was the interrogation scene. I don't know who's my fav character yet, it's between Finn, Rey and Ren. So like, all the main characters basically.

The prequels are bad for an entirely different reason than The Force Awakens. The Force Awakens is bad because of its story and design, the prequels are bad because of the some of the actors are bad, the dialogue is bland and the exposition is stretched out.

While I liked Rey and Finn, Kylo Ren was easily my favorite character. It's not even close. He was just so interesting, perhaps the most interesting character in SW yet. We so often see the protagonist try to emulate past heroes it's really cool to see a villain do so as well. I can't wait to see where they take him.

As for my favorite scene, I probably have to echo Neph and go with the interrogation. Very tense, creepy, and in a weird way an almost intimate moment between our hero and villain.
