Actually she was like Boba Fett. She looked cool but that's about it. Didn't do anything of significance.

So who deserves more credit for the greatness of TFA, to whatever extent there is greatness? Lucas or Abrams?

Discuss, plebes.

Lucas didn't work on it so Abrams deserves all the credit out of these two. Lucas deserves all the credit for creating Star Wars but that is another matter altogether.

There's still 2 more movies and she's already confirmed for 8. Don't write characters off yet, there's room for growth.

I cant believe people actually liked Kylo Ren. An Emo Vader that threw temper tantrums like a spoiled teenager and this is the character that people are latching onto? Sad.

But it's been pretty seriously established that much of TFA owes to ANH.

Lucas is Copernicus, and Abrams is Kepler.

Good ideas that just needed a little work.

So ? Lucas didn't work on this at all and would have went into a completely different direction.

A nice analogy. You should share your thoughts with the rest here. (Though I did read what you wrote in the Battlebar.)

If you are looking at how TFA ripped off from ANH, than I will actually give credit to Lucas for the basic structure. Abrams basically rehashed ANH's plot structure with a just a few small tweaks.

I'm actually going to say ANH has a better ending. TFA is the "give Disney more money eighteen months later" ending.

I meant your overall review. You and I generally agree that Star Wars is more or less "great potential never actualized."

My review? I guess you could call it that. I mean, for me TFA was very fun to watch, but also very dumb. It was well made, but lacking in any real intellect. As an olive branch to the PT, I will say that I appreciate what Lucas tried to do with the PT. He tried to tell a more complicated plot than Good Guys vs Bad Guys. He wanted to write a family drama that focused around the tragic fall of an otherwise heroic man. I just don't think he managed to pull it off.

So what you're saying is... Lucas should have given meyou and I control of StarWars instead of selling out to Disney excellent

Well, of course.

But now SW is a slave to the Mouse, and SW games are a slave to EA.

I maintain, despite the pervasive cynicism of this world, that it is possible to produce something that is both (a) creatively excellent and (b) financially rewarding.

Of course it is. But that does not change the fact that The Force Awaken is uninspired trash that only creatively inept people could appreciate.

Hopefully people won't have to compare the future episodes to the prequels.

You sound so upset over this.

Originality does not equal entertainment.

Well even Ford's name is in the casting list for 8.
But the last we saw of Phasma was that she was about to be locked up in a garbage compactor ( nods to ANH) before the entire planet blew up.

So do we get flashback scenes of Han before his death or do the 2 miraculously survive & escape before the Death Station blew up?

I expected a good movie and I got a bad one, obviously I'm disappointed.

No, but it adds to it; and the lack of it detracts from it.
