Captain America: Civil War

Fight scenes aside, you know who REALLY lost in this movie?

Spoiler:
Bucky. My god, what a tragic character. Dude can't catch a break. I JUST realized how bad I feel for the guy. He's on the run, dealing with the memories of all the murders and horrible things he's been FORCED to do all the years Cap was on ice. He then gets blamed for a UN bombing and re-brainwashed to do more terrible things. THEN he gets his arm blown off and put back on ice...... Poor Winter Soldier man.....

I can't get enough of the character. I really hope they unthaw him for the Black Panther solo title. He's too damn interesting to keep on ice for long. I'm very glad he didn't die. I was very impressed with Ant Man's dialogue and the humor. It wasn't too much and was completely in character. This shows DC how to make a film. They failed with Batman v. Superman while Civil War hit it out of the park.

I thought a lot of the humor was really really great. Hawkeye, Antman, Spidey, Falcon. All great

Any word on the Thursday preview number? I'm guessing this destroyed BvS.

I saw a rumor that it made 28-30 million. Not sure how true that is though. Still waiting on official numbers.

Spoiler:
the scenes between Falcon and Winter Soldier are the best. "Can you move your seat forward?" Falcon- "No!"

WS-"You couldn't have done that earlier?" Falcon- "I hate you." 😆

Nice.

BvS did 27.7 million.

So anyone for a Winter Soldier/Falcon sitcom series? 😆

Someone I trust told me they saw it and didn't care for it but I'm hearing unanimous praise on the internet and from critics so that's good

I heard that as well but I'm going.

hahaha that part was so funny.

I also love

Spoiler:
Scott Lang's line when he spots Scarlet Witch and he's like "Oh I know you too you're great"
seemed like perfect Paul Rudd improv.

Spoiler:
"Anybody have some orange slices?"

I told you last week the friends I saw it with were underwhelmed by it, but to me it's probably my favorite Marvel movie and possibly favorite superhero movie.

Just go see it already!

I know too many exams right now

Spoiler:
Hawkeye: You all set down there?
Antman: You got it Arrowman
Spoiler:
The only reason Spidey wasn't taking all those guys out more quickly is because Tony told him to apprehend them not kill them. Also he was experienced and just excited to be meeting them and interacting with all the heroes he looked up to.
Also the Ironman thing: Tony wasn't trying to kill Cap. If he was then we saw what his lasers did to Buckys arm.
Just like Vision in the fight wasn't there to kill. He was there to make sure there guys dont kill each other.

So I just saw this film and it was nice to see everyone get to flex their stuff even if it was pretty spontaneous

Spoiler:
Also this movie seemed less about keeping the Avengers in line and more about trying to get the Avengers out of the way to apprehend Bucky. I also thought it was a bit odd how stuff like what happened in Harlem or London is kind of glossed over despite having suffered just as much damage. I'm still split about how I feel about Spider-man as I'm still kind of bummed he's a side character now his performance against Ant-man, Falcon, and WS was pretty darn cool. Zemo turned out to be a bit of a disappointment with his whole revenge thing thought the final fight between Stark and Cap kind of made up for it. Then again Zemo didn't die and did succeed in his goal so I guess that makes him the most successful villain in the MCU

All and all a good movie.

Civil War only made 25 million last night. Still, it did beat out BvS in pre ticket sales so that means the weekend will likely still be better than the 166 that BvS did. BvS was SUPER front-loaded. Marvel movies are typically not that front-loaded. This is one of the best Thursday sales figures for a Marvel movie though.

A lot of people are predicting between $180 million and $210 million.

Going to rewatch this Tuesday

Also the villain didnt bother me.

Spoiler:
He got what he wanted

The main focus of the movie was the conflict and struggles of the main heroes. So of coarse they would get mostly all the screen time. If they didnt give the heroes most the screen time in a movie called "Civil War" then I would have felt cheated.

Im not in the camp that all villains have so be super-powered strong bricks to be good.

Spoiler:
Zemo
served his purpose.
Spoiler:
And he actually won. The villain wins in the end of this film

This film was interesting in that it was the first one with a

Spoiler:
purely mind villain IMO. He used just his wits, planning and intelligence to get things done, and ultimately succeeded in his goal. Yet, at the same time, he likely wouldn't last 10 seconds against any of the Avengers in a random 1-on-1 encounter. Even all the other "clever" villains I can recall at least had some sort of tech/enhancement/powers as well.
