It's not pointless when they want to present the official story of the Stark deaths as a car accident and want to have all documentation and video of the assassination in their possession.

Also, don't forget that Hydra had been integrated into SHIELD since WWII and during the time of Howard Stark's assassination (the whole premise of TWS), and it's been shown numerous times that SHIELD/Hydra could patch into the video feed of pretty much all surveillance equipment on Earth (ATM cams, traffic cams, convenience store security cams, etc).

Why the hell would a secret organization keep evidence of an assassination? You still haven't given a clear reason.

Why wouldn't they?

Because who keeps evidence of assassination maybe...and the fact winter soldier is supposed to be a ghost. so much so even the likes of black widow only have heard about

Winter Soldier was one of theirs. I don't see why they wouldn't keep files on him. It's Hydra; they were a pretty big deal.

The only reason Spidey wasn't taking all those guys out more quickly is because Tony told him to apprehend them not kill them. Also he was experienced and just excited to be meeting them and interacting with all the heroes he looked up to.

****Inexperienced****

stupid phone typing

Exactly he's theirs there would be no need to document hits he was sent on it makes no sense.
Hydra obviously went through ALOT of trouble to make sure he wasn't found out about and would have destroyed that footage.

Natasha Romanoff: I know who killed Fury. Most of the intelligence community doesn't believe he exists, the ones who do call him the Winter Soldier. He's credited with over two dozen assassinations in the last fifty years.
Steve Rogers: So he's a ghost story.

Didnt you see the film? They need to keep tabs on him because if they see Bucky showing signs of the mind control wearing off, they have to mind wipe/zap his brains all over.

Pretty important detail for Hydra to keep Bucky in check tbh.

Pretty important detail for Hydra to have to keep in check tbh.

How would lifting a video AFTER the fact be of any use in controlling bucky? Blackmailing him? 😆

You have to consider all of your options 🙂

Yah, as others have said I didn't have a problem with Zemo for the most part.

Spoiler:
I just didn't like his reasoning. Him being just some guy that lost his family in Sokovia cheapens his "COMIC" character by a lot. That being said, as far as his role in the movie? He was fine. In fact, I'm GLAD he was what he was. That gave us more time to chew on the Tony vs Steve fight. And what a fight that was. While I didn't like the fact Steve was holding his own against IM for as long as he did, the emotions of the fight were real and EARNED. I genuinely was near man tears as I watched these 2 icons duke it out and felt for both of them.

Steve would fight to the death for his FRIEND who he knows was a victim and Bucky ALWAYS stood up for Steve. "Even when I had nothing I had Bucky".

Tony was hurt and betrayed that Cap KNEW that Winter Soldier murdered his parents; more importantly his Mom. Tony suppressed his guilt over the way their last moments went for years and to find out that Winter Soldier was the man responsible....he was going to kill Bucky. But you can't blame him.

Both men were right and both men were wrong at the same time. It was a duel that was fantastic in both it's choreography and it's ideology.

Why do real life intelligence agencies keep evidence of assassinations?

190 M seems about right. Or maybe more.

NOON UPDATE: Captain America: Civil War‘s matinees are currently tracking 10% to 13% behind Avengers: Age of Ultron putting the Disney Marvel title on track for a $75M-$80M Friday and a projected weekend at this point of $178M-$188M. While that’s under Ultron‘s $191.27M , man, that’s really not something to cry about. Should Civil War hook that opening, it will make it the fifth highest domestic opening of all-time ahead of Iron Man 3‘s $174M.

Fight scenes aside, you know who REALLY lost in this movie?

Spoiler:
Bucky. My god, what a tragic character. Dude can't catch a break. I JUST realized how bad I feel for the guy. He's on the run, dealing with the memories of all the murders and horrible things he's been FORCED to do all the years Cap was on ice. He then gets blamed for a UN bombing and re-brainwashed to do more terrible things. THEN he gets his arm blown off and put back on ice...... Poor Winter Soldier man.....

👆

He was Steve Champion when Rogers was a nobody. Now Steve is doing the same for him.

This was one of the better comic movie villains.

He didn't have trite goals of world domination, and he had a clear basis for his actions. He was a realistic antagonist.

Spoiler:
And while I can understand Tony's anger at WS, he wasn't right at all. Bucky was basically a war hero that was tortured, brainwashed, and forced to be an assassin. He was in no way in control of his actions.

One of the most powerful moments for me in the movie is when
Spoiler:
Tony shoots the Silo closed and traps Winter Soldier. He then asks him "Do you even remember killing my parents." Bucky responds simply "I REMEMBER."

2 words that symbolize the character of Winter Soldier so perfectly. He is so tortured by the things he's done that he can't even bring himself to apologize face to face. The guilt he feels is overwhelming. You can tell when Tony looks at the video and Bucky just lowers his weapon and his head at the same time. Amazing scenes man....amazing.

Movie was great.

Liked the personal touch at the end.

True. But ask yourself; if you were Tony in that Situation after everything you've been through....would you not act the same? Or at least be tempted?
Spoiler:

Keep in mind Tony doesn't know Bucky AT ALL. He has no real prior knowledge on him. He doesn't know the good man that He was and can still be. He just sees a terrorist who's killed hundreds? of people. But the icing on the cake is the fact he's the man that took his Mother and Father out of this world. Ask yourself if you REALLY believe in brainwashing of that magnitude, or if you'd even care. You're right though. I'm not saying Stark was really in the right for wanting to kill Bucky. But I can't blame him for losing control.

Tony knows Bucky was a war hero that was kidnapped and brainwashed though. Like I said, I can understand his anger, he still wasn't the least bit right in his actions. It's not like Bucky was an assassin by choice and just had a change of heart like Black Widow...

Spoiler:
Think Spidey would never go for the kill anyway. Not unless there was some extreme circumstances anyway.
