Spielberg Honors Kubrick's Memory On Set

Legendary director Stanley Kubrick may be dead, but his influence lives on through Steven Spielberg. Spielberg reveres the late A Clockwork Orange film-maker and is determined to honor Kubrick's memory on the set of his new movie. Oscar-winner Spielberg is currently making futuristic epic AI - a project Kubrick himself was developing when he died in 1999. And since taking over, Spielberg has insisted on the same high levels of secrecy Kubrick himself employed on seminal films such as 2001: A Space Odyssey. British pin-up Jude Law has been ordered to cover up while on the set, walking around with an umbrella so aggressive paparazzi can't snap pictures of him in character. Law says, "Kubrick's movies were always made under these rules and Steven just wants to respect that. I had to walk around with an umbrella during shooting so people couldn't see what I looked like. The week before we started shooting there was the release of photos of all the characters from the new Star Wars set and Steven really didn't want any photos going out." So I had to walk from the trailer to the studio with an umbrella."
