Mel Gibson To Make Epic Action 'Apocalypto'
[Monday, October 31st, 2005]Mel Gibson announced that he is making an epic action-adventure movie called Apocalypto, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
He is to start shooting in Veracruz, on the Gulf of Mexico; however he continues to keep his latest production under wraps. Sporting a long beard as he spoke at a news conference, Gibson described Apocalypto as a story created in mythic proportions, with no European faces, and set in the pre-Hispanic era.
Apocalypto is a Greek term that means "the unveiling" or "a new beginning." Gibson is producing, directing and financing the picture out of his own pocket. He told reporters that "the budget is not as big as everyone seems to think." But he declined to specify how much it will cost.
