Keira Knightley's 'Atonement' For Focus Features


Keira KnightleyFocus Features have bought the domestic rights to Keira Knightley's romantic drama Atonement, says the Hollywood Reporter.

Th feature, helmed by Joe Wright, tells the story of Briony (Saoirse Ronancq), a 13-year-old girl who falsely accuses the boyfriend (James McAvoy) of her older sister (Knightley) of assaulting their cousin.

The film follows the characters from the mid-1930s through World War II to the end of the 20th century, as Briony tries to atone for her earlier actions with the couple. Vanessa Redgrave and Brenda Blethyn also star.

The project has just begun filming in the U.K., and plans a release next year.
