'Bratz' Dolls Get Movie Deal From Fox

20th Century Fox has struck a deal with MGA Entertainment to develop and produce a live-action/animated feature film based on MGA's popular Bratz fashion dolls, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Also under the deal, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has acquired distribution rights to an original Bratz film in production by MGA. That film is due to be released this year.

Trademarked as "The Girls With a Passion for Fashion," the Bratz line has remained the most popular fashion doll brand in the world since its introduction in mid-2001. Its success has earned it such honors as three consecutive Family Fun's Toy of the Year Awards and the Toy Industry Assn.'s People's Choice Toy of the Year Award in 2002 and '03.
