Ledger & Gyllenhall On 'Brokeback Mountain'
[Thursday, January 15th, 2004]Heath Ledger (The Order) and Jake Gyllenhaal (The Good Girl) are in negotiations to topline the Ang Lee next project Brokeback Mountain a love story, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Adapted by Larry McMurtry and Diana Ossana from a short story by scribe E. Annie Proulx (The Shipping News), the project revolves around two men who meet one summer as sheepherders in Wyoming and form a bond and love that spans 20 years. The film tracks that time period and their evolving relationship.
The project long regarded as one of the great screenplays that never got produced, according to industry sources.
The start date for Brokeback Mountain has yet to be determined.
