Hand Picked Films Takes On 'Black Belt Club'

Hand Picked Films has bought the rights to children's book author Dawn Barnes The Black Belt Club, says the Hollywood Reporter.The story follows Max, a young black belt, who is invited to join the Black Belt Club, a secret team of young karate students. He lacks confidence in his abilities, particularly when compared to the other three members of the team. Despite his insecurity, he joins them on a journey to a mystical land where they must rescue the world-sustaining Tree of Life. Its trunk holds seven wheels of power, which are stolen by the villainous Master Mundi. Along the way, the young people overcome many obstacles, bicker among themselves, and tap into their inner resources.
The studio plans to build and develop a multiplatform franchise based on the children's book series that debuted in the spring.
