Lee to Make Crouching Prequel

Ang Lee (directer of 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon'), has announced at the annual ShoWest covention that he would make the prequel to the Oscar nominated film. He said that the film would focus on the events of Li Mu Bai (Yun-Fat Chow) and Shu Lien (Michelle Yeoh). CTHD is one of the most expensive foreign film, and he said that the prequel would be more expensive as "everybody's going to charge me five times as much". Before he begins that he is going to make a feature film version of the "Incredible Hulk" comic book and a biopic on Harry Houdini. Page Six reports:

Lee, who won a Golden Globe and an Oscar nomination for his direction, revealed at the annual ShoWest convention in Las Vegas that "Crouching Tiger 2" would focus on the high-flying, high-kicking warriors played by Chow and Yeoh in the original.

But he does foresee problems.

"It would be very expensive; everybody's going to charge me five times as much," Lee told USA Today. "We got all the equipment for half price. When we went on location, they thought we were a TV crew. That's not going to happen again."

Yeoh, who was honored at ShoWest as international star of the year, attributed "Crouching Tiger's" blockbuster success to the emotional impact of its story.

"'Crouching Tiger' shows that it doesn't matter what the period is, it doesn't matter what the language is - as long as it reaches out to people, it will be successful."
