Mandate Pictures Set For 'The Ghouly Boys'

Ghouly BoysMandate Pictures has picked up the movie rights to the children's comic book series The Ghouly Boys, says the Hollywood Reporter.

The feature follows four sweet, young monsters -- a wolf boy, a kid zombie, a young sea monster and the son of the boogeyman plus their flight-challenged pet bat -- who have a hard time fitting in with the "normal" human kids until they find each other.

The comic, written and drawn by single-named artist Christopher, first was published in 2004 by Slave Labor Graphics.

"We were immediately taken with the emotional foundation of 'The Ghouly Boys' comic series," Mandate's Nathan Kahane said. "Christopher creatively captures the self-doubt, social rejection and alienation felt by today's youth with great ease and innocence."
