Fiennes Joins Bratt In 'The Great Raid'


Miramax Films has set Joseph Fiennes ("Shakespeare in Love") to star alongside Benjamin Bratt in "The Great Raid," reports Variety.

The John Dahl-directed story of how the 6th Ranger Battalion mounted a daring rescue of 500 American prisoners held in the notorious Cabanatuan Japanese POW camp.

Fiennes will play the highest-ranking officer in the POW camp.

Hossein Amini adapted historian William B. Breuer's "The Great Raid on Cabanatuan." Amini's recent script work includes "Gangs of New York," "Four Feathers" and "The Wings of the Dove."

The film will shoot on location in Queensland, Australia, where a POW camp is being built for the film.
