UK Potter Site Launches

From 8.00am GMT tomorrow (16 February 2001) British Harry Potter fans will get their first glimpse of the official UK website for the movie. The fanfare launch was scooped today by BBC children's news programme Newsround which featured exclusive footage of the website.

Fans can expect to be welcomed into the site by the Golden Snitch which leads to a flash animation sequence of Hogwart's Express in action. You can find out which school house the Sorting Hat thinks you should be in, visit the shops in Diagon Alley or check out cast information via The Daily Prophet. Alternatively you can drive friends or colleagues insane by sending them howlers.

'The site gives us our first hint of what the film might look like,' said presenter Lizo Mzimba. And if that's the case, fans worried about the Americanisation of the book should have their fears allayed - the feel of the site is pretty gothic.
