Statham Joins 'Italian Job' Cast

British actor Jason Statham ("Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels") has joined the crew of remake "The Italian Job," reports Variety

The movies is also starring Mark Wahlberg, Charlize Theron and Edward Norton.

Statham plays Smiling Rob, part of the crew of Charlie Croker (Wahlberg), which is out to steal gold bullion by creating the largest traffic jam in L.A. history and making its getaway in Mini Cooper sports cars.

F. Gary Gray will direct the Paramount Pictures project, which is a remake of a 1969 film that starred Michael Caine.
