Sony Pictures Classics Takes On 'Jindabyne'
[Wednesday, August 23rd, 2006]Sony Pictures Classics has bought the North American rights to Ray Lawrence's drama Jindabyne, says the Hollywood Reporter.
The feature follows a group of friends (Byrne, John Howard, Stelios Yiakmis and Simon Stone) on a fishing trip as they discover an Aboriginal girl's body. They continue their vacation as planned, reporting their find to the police in their Australian high country home, Jindabyne. When details of the incident begin to spread, the men face the consequences with their wives and the community.
The script was adapted by Beatrix Christian from the late Raymond Carver's short story, 'So Much Water So Close to Home'. A Spring release is planned.
