Scribe Hired For Rob Cohen's 'Kite' Adaptation

Anant Singh's Distant Horizon is moving forward with Rob Cohen's live-action adaptation of the Japanese anime cult classic from Yasuomi Umetsu Kite, by hiring scribe Kamran Pasha to pen the screenplay, says The Hollywood Reporter.

The original film centers on a young woman named Sawa who is taken off the streets after the murder of her parents by a Svengali-like detective. The man, who employs homeless children to do his dirty work, forces her to kill his chosen targets until she is able to break free of his control.

The new version will be toned down to exclude some of the graphic adult situations in the original.
