Extras Answer 'Return Of The King' Casting Call

Stuff.co.nz report on the open casting call being held for Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King in New Zealand.

In Upper Hutt yesterday, Judd, who appeared to be taking her party's name literally, said: "I'm really just here for a bit of fun." When told women had to be aged over 55 she looked disappointed: "Well, I'm too young then."

For someone prepared to accept such a humble role, Judd didn't wait long outside an auditorium for one of 200 non-speaking background parts in scenes for the final part of the trilogy, The Return of the King.

She queued for about 30 minutes but gave up without an audition, saying she had a plane to catch. She stressed she wasn't looking for a new occupation - but did take an application form with her.

Others in the 250-metre queue came from as far as Australia and Christchurch

The lucky 200 extras selected will have two to six days of work, believed to pay about $500 a day.
