Ron Howard To Take 'The Last Ride'

Ron Howard is negotiating with Revolution Studios to direct "The Last Ride," penned by "Space Cowboys" scribe Ken Kaufman from the novel by Thomas Eidson, reports Variety.

As a young actor, Howard co-starred in Western "The Shootist" alongside John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart and Lauren Bacall. He received a Golden Globe nomination for his role.

Set in New Mexico in 1886, "The Last Ride" tells of a father returning home to make peace with the daughter he abandoned years earlier. When he arrives, his now grown-up daughter shows him no forgiveness. But when her eldest daughter is kidnapped and her husband killed, she enlists her estranged father to ride to the rescue.
