Ron Howard To Take 'The Last Ride'
[Thursday, September 19th, 2002]Ron Howard is negotiating with Revolution Studios to direct "The Last Ride," penned by "Space Cowboys" scribe Ken Kaufman from the novel by Thomas Eidson, reports Variety.
As a young actor, Howard co-starred in Western "The Shootist" alongside John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart and Lauren Bacall. He received a Golden Globe nomination for his role.
Set in New Mexico in 1886, "The Last Ride" tells of a father returning home to make peace with the daughter he abandoned years earlier. When he arrives, his now grown-up daughter shows him no forgiveness. But when her eldest daughter is kidnapped and her husband killed, she enlists her estranged father to ride to the rescue.
