Emile Hirsch & Heath Ledger Join 'Dogtown'

Emile Hirsch, star of The Girl Next Door, and Heath Ledger are set to star in Columbia Pictures' The Lords of Dogtown, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The project is a fictionalized version of Stacy Peralta's documentary "Dogtown and Z-Boys" and is based on a Spin magazine article that explored 1970s skateboarding culture.

The story follows a group of young California surfers who take their style to the streets as skateboarders, thereby launching a new sport that defined a generation. Hirsch and Ledger will play part of the revolutionary clan.
