Weisz's Character Name Change
[Saturday, March 17th, 2001]IMDb report that Rachel Weisz's character name will be changed to 'Nefeteri' as they are worried that 'Nefertiti' may be made fun of:
The makers of The Mummy Returns have been forced to change ancient Egyptian history - because they don't want their film to become one long-running joke about breasts. Rachel Weisz's archaeologist character in the sequel actually turns out to be a reincarnation of Nefertiti, the wife of King Amenhotep IV but director Stephen Sommers feared the Egyptian queen's name would be used for boob gags. Weisz explains, "They changed my name to Nefeteri and I thought it had something to do with superstition, but they were just worried that Nefertiti sounded like 'titties'."
