Hudsons 'Raising Helen' Is Greenlit

The Walt Disney Co. has greenlighted the comedy "Raising Helen" with Kate Hudson set to star and Garry Marshall ("Pretty Woman") to direct, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

"Helen" revolves around a young woman (Hudson) who works as an assistant to the head of a modeling agency and is about to be promoted. Her world is turned upside down when her sister and brother-in-law die in a car crash and she is left to care for their three children, ages 9-15.

"Helen" was originally set up as a pitch by Beth Rigazzio and Patrick Clifton. The script was rewritten by Jack Amile and Michael Begler and polished by Audrey Wells.

The project is scheduled to begin shooting in February.
