Prequel Or Sequel Or Both?

Ted Tally (writer of 'Silence Of The Lambs') talked to Cinescape magazine and confirmed the rumors about 'Hannibal' direction. As previously it was thought that they were going to make to movies a sequel and a prequel based on the 'Red Dragon' book.

Tally said it will be both a prequel and a sequel, with the film taking place after the events in 'Hannibal' with a heavily reliance on flashbacks to the events that took place in the 'Red Dragon' book by Thomas Harris.

Anthony Hopkins had previously resisted to take part in 'Red Dragon' and wanted to make a sequel, but the studio didn't want to wait until Thomas Harris wrote another novel. So the decision they came to was a compromise, on both parts.
