Julianne Moore Will Be 'Running With Scissors'

Julianne Moore is attached to star in a feature adaptation of bestseller "Running With Scissors" for writer-director Ryan Murphy, reports Variety.

Murphy will pen the adaptation of Augusten Burroughs' novel, published by St. Martin's Press, about his mother Deirdre, a bipolar poet with delusions of grandeur who falls into the care of an unorthodox male psychiatrist in the mid-1970s.

There is no distributor yet on the picture, which producers hope to set up next year with a budget of $15 million-$20 million.

"Julianne Moore has been my favorite actress since I saw 'Safe,"' said Burroughs, "and I am thrilled to trade my own mother in for her."

Murphy recently penned and will direct Gaylord Films' "Why Can't I Be Audrey Hepburn," for Warner Bros. That picture is in pre-production and will shoot early next year.
