Fann Wong Talks 'Shanghai Knights' Role

Fann WongFann Wong, star of Jackie Chan's Shanghai Knights, told The Olympian that she doesn't want a career in Hollywood.

"It's not like I need Hollywood, you know," she said. "Because most important, I'm Chinese and I love doing Chinese movies and TV serials."

Wong, a former model and singer, says she got the role after a visit by casting agents to Singapore who were looking for "a Chinese girl who could fight and speak English."

Wong said her role was only meant to have been a "few seconds" but stretched into 45 minutes. She will be playing Chan's sister and Wilson's love interest in the movie.

Wong went on to say that she didn't understand the joke behind the name of Chan's character, Chon Wang -- which resembles the name of John Wayne.

"Even when the director explained it, I didn't know who John Wayne was," she said.

Shanghai Knights will hit theaters in the US this Friday.
