MGM To Make Urban 'Airplane' Movie

MGM is hiring music video helmer Jessy Terrero to direct "Soul Plane," reports The Hollywood Reporter, this is off there success with "Barbershop."

The studio picked up the project from writer-producer Bo Zenga and writer Chuck Wilson in February.

It's described as an urban version of the classic 1980 comedy "Airplane."

Terrero has been behind the camera directing music videos for the past five years for Robot Films. He has worked with such artists as Grammy winner Jill Scott, Method Man and Redman, Mystikal, Angie Martinez and Petey Pablo.

As part of Fox Searchlight's Searchlab, he helmed the short film "The Clinic," which coincidentally screened before "Barbershop" at last month's Urbanworld Film Festival.
