Tobey Maguire Talks Spider-Man
[Saturday, April 7th, 2001]
Stan Lee's classic credo of "with great power comes great responsibility" will remain intact in the film, as Maguire notes, "First of all, Spider-Man's so strong that if he hit regular people he'd seriously injure them. He's too responsible a man to do that kind of thing."
On his role as Peter Parker he said, "He's a great character because he's so relatable. He's a regular kid who gets these superpowers. But he's conflicted about it in our script, which makes him interesting."
