Dimension Films Take On 'Starsky & Hutch'
[Wednesday, February 5th, 2003]Dimension Films is coming aboard to co-finance the Warner Bros. action comedy Starsky and Hutch, says Variety.
The movie will star Ben Stiller as Det. David Starsky, Owen Wilson as Det. Kenneth Hutchinson and Snoop Dogg as their streetwise informant, Huggy Bear.
Initially the plan was to simply update the classic 1970s cop series 'Starsky and Hutch' for the big screen and set it in present-day Los Angeles.
However Todd Phillips (writer/director) and company decided it would be better served as a period piece. This caused costuming and set design expenses to rise, and co-financing was sought. Although officially the budget has not been confirmed, insiders report it will be in the region of $60 million or more.
