Episode II An Improvement - Ewan McGregor
[Sunday, April 7th, 2002]Ewan McGregor, who plays Obi-Wan Kenobi in the prequels, has told FilmFour that he was disappointed by the Star Wars prequel - The Phantom Menace, which he described as "flat".
McGregor has previously said that he found filming for meticulous director George Lucas "boring", but this is the first time he has publicly criticised the film, reports the BBC.
He went on to say that the next installement in the Star Wars saga - Episode II - Attack of the Clones, was an improvement on the first.
"One of the things about Episode One I was slightly disappointed by was, I thought it was very kind of flat," he told the website.
"I think there's much more humour and there's much more colour in Episode II: Attack of the Clones.
"I think it's more reminiscent of the original three Star Wars films than Episode I was."
Star Wars: Episode II will be released worldwide on May 16.
