'Revenge Of Sith' Wins At People Choice Awards
[Wednesday, January 11th, 2006]The final installment in the Star Wars prequel trilogy Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, was one of the major winners at the People's Choice Awards in Los Angeles on Tuesday.
The film was named favourite movie and favourite movie drama at the awards.
George Lucas, who was there in person, said the award had special significance because the winners are picked by the cinema-going audience. "I'm not a big favourite with the critics, but who listens to them," Lucas said onstage. "The reason I make films is for you. The audience rules."
Nominees for the People's Choice Awards were picked by a 6,000-strong Entertainment Weekly magazine panel, and winners chosen by 21 million online voters.
