Applegate To Join Affleck For 'Christmas'

Christina Applegate is in negotiations to star opposite Ben Affleck in "Surviving Christmas" for DreamWorks Pictures, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

Mike Mitchell ('Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo') is directing, with production scheduled to start by year's end.

The project centers on a rich record executive (Affleck) who is faced with spending the Christmas holiday by himself. To steer clear of a lonely holiday, he journeys back to his childhood home and persuades the family that now lives there to take him in by paying them cash to pretend they are his family.

Applegate would star as the lead female, the well-educated scientist daughter in the family he rents.
