Paul Anderson In 'There Will Be Blood' Talks
[Wednesday, January 18th, 2006]Paul Thomas Anderson is in final talks to direct Daniel Day-Lewis in Paramount Pictures There Will Be Blood, says the Hollywood Reporter.
Anderson has spent several years writing the script, which is a sprawling period piece loosely adapted from Upton Sinclair's 1927 novel 'Oil!'.
The feature would see Day-Lewis play a turn-of-the-century Texas oil prospector in the early days of the oil business.
"It's an ambitious film and a compelling, relevant story about family, greed, religion and oil," said Paramounts John Lesher. "Paul is an incredible talent, exactly the kind of filmmaker the new division wants to be in business with."
