Julia Roberts In Talks For 'Charlie Wilson's War'
[Wednesday, January 11th, 2006]
She would join Tom Hanks, who will play Charlie Wilson, the rogue Texas congressman who oversaw the covert funding of the Afghan rebels in their battle against the Soviet Union.
Roberts role, which could be her first on-screen role since 2004's Ocean's Twelve, would see her play Joanne Herring, a big-haired and beautiful Texas socialite who influenced Wilson to support the rebel cause.
The project would also reunite her with director Mike Nichols, who she worked with on Closer. Production will begin later this year.
