Williams to Star Kind Hearts

Movies
Robin Williams is to grace the screen in multiple roles, previously played by the late Alec Guinness(Obi Wan, [OT] Star Wars) in the Robert Hamer's 1949 original. Alec played The Duke, The Banker, The Parson, The General, The Admiral, Young Ascoyne, Young Henry and Lady Agatha. Will Robbo repeat Alecs performance? or take it to another level. Empire reports:
Speaking at the Berlin Film Festival, where he was presenting his HBO-funded film Wit - the harrowing story of a poetry professor played by Emma Thompson who is diagnosed with cancer - Nichols admits the remake is a long-cherished project of his. "Kind Hearts is something that I have been talking about for years with Elaine May, since we did The Birdcage. It was something I always wanted to do."

Confirming that his version of the story – which, in Hamer’s version, follows the efforts of one Louis D'Ascoynes to murder his relatives for the sake of a Duke’s title - will again feature the eight family members, though with a racial slant.

"It’s a fairly big deal. You can’t take on that particular approach to Kind hearts lightly. We found – not entirely unsurprisingly – that it had more and more repercussions, when it was racially-based. We are continuing to work on it, and realising that as it grows, it’s becomes something else. We’re not sure what."

As for Williams, Nichols said he’s the only actor in the world who could play all the required roles. "You should have seen him in the reading. It's not the easiest thing for him to do a woman, but he'll be a Romanian gymnast over 21.
