Margulies To Star In 'Chimera'

Julianna Margulies a former 'ER' cast member is said to star as the female lead in Warner Bros.' 'Ghost Ship' (aka 'Chimera'). Joel Silver and Robert Zemeckis' are to produce and is to be directed by Steve Beck ('13 Ghosts'), is going into production in January, reports The Hollywood Reporter

Gabriel Byrne has the offer to play the male lead, but negotiations have not begun.

Margulies will play Maureen Epps, who is part of a group of boat salvagers who find a lost 1953 passenger ship floating aimlessly in a remote region of the Bering Sea. After claiming the ship and attempting to tow it to land, mysterious things begin to happen aboard the derelict vessel. The actress will undergo massive physical training for the role, much in the same way Linda Hamilton did for the "Terminator" franchise and Sigourney Weaver did for the "Alien" franchise.

Silver Pictures vp production Susan Levin and Warner Bros. executive vp Jeff Robinov are overseeing the project.
