Brando Offered "Good Pope" Role

According to London's Sunday Mirror, Marlon Brando has been approached to play the part of Pope John XXIII in a new movie.

Italian State TV wants the Hollywood great to take the role of the revered religious figure known to tens of millions of worshippers as the "Good Pope," according to London's Sunday Mirror.

"We approached Mr. Brando because he was considered as the ideal candidate for the role. Facially, there are some resemblances between the two," a spokeswoman at TV company RAI told the paper. "He seemed very interested in the part."

The film will start production this year.
