Eastwood To Helm Mystic

Clint Eastwood is attached to direct and produce Dennis Lehane's novel 'Mystic River,' for Warner Bros. Brian Helgeland (Academy Award-winning screenwriter 'L.A. Confidential') has been tapped to write the screenplay, report The Hollywood Reporter. Eastwood is not expected to take on an acting role in 'Mystic.'

Helgeland and Eastwood, who have been friends for more than a dozen years, are collaborating on another Warners project, an adaptation of author Michael Connelly's mystery thriller 'Blood Work,' as a vehicle for Eastwood to direct, star in and produce.

'Mystic,' published by William Morrow in January, tells the story of three childhood friends in Boston -- Sean, Jimmy and Dave -- whose relationship ends when one of the boys is kidnapped. Twenty-five years later, the men are reunited and become linked by a murder investigation after Jimmy's oldest daughter is killed.
